UBA Offers Free Repellent to Combat Dengue

The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) has announced that it will distribute free repellent of its own production next Thursday, November 14, and Saturday, November 16, at Plaza Houssay. This initiative aims to raise awareness and prevent dengue, and it will be carried out in collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry.

According to sources from the higher education institution consulted by the Argentine News Agency, activities for the distribution of repellents will be held by prior reservation via WhatsApp. Additionally, it was reported that professors and students from various careers and technical degrees at the university will conduct six solidarity days until Saturday, aimed at residents of vulnerable neighborhoods in the City of Buenos Aires as part of the UBA in action program.

The schedule of activities includes various services for the population: from dental care and blood analysis to medical, dental, ophthalmological care, psychological and legal advice. Veterinary services, neutering, repellent distribution, and health and wellness advice will also be offered.

Moreover, during the activity days, scholarships to study at UBA will be promoted, primary clinical care for pets will be provided, and informative talks, health checks, and advice on various topics of public interest will be conducted. It will also include HIV tests, vocational guidance, podiatric care, among other services related to health and community well-being.
